A group of Iowa State University students gave Urbandale's Lakeview Park a makeover recently.

The city of Urbandale recently worked with 27 students studying architecture, interior design and landscaping at ISU to construct a new picnic shelter at the park, according to the Des Moines Register.

The process of improving Lakeview Park began four years ago, the Register reported. The park's open-air shelter was in need of repairs following a 2010 storm.

Funding for the project came from approximately $15,650 in insurance proceeds from the damage caused to the previous shelter and about $12,000 from cell tower lease revenue in the parks improvement fund, the article said.
