Iowa State Women's Track and Field, Cross Country Ranked One of the Best in Nation

The finish is the highest the team has ever received.

After a successful season, the Iowa State University women's track and field team has finished fourth in the Program of the Year standings, the highest finish it has ever received.

The program is presented by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and is based off of teams’ finishes at the NCAA cross country, indoor and outdoor national championships, according to the Iowa State Daily. For a team to be eligible for program of the year, they must qualify for all three championships.

A ninth place finish at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, 11th at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships and a 13th place finish at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships all contributed to the team's ranking, the article said.

The women have finished in the top 13 of the final Program of the Year standings four times since 2010 and have finished in the top 10 three times.
