Static busters for winter hair woes

Cold air, snow, freezing temps, and high heat from the furnace and blow dryer can lead to brittle wintertime hair. Under these conditions, static charges build up in dry hair causing that hard-to-manage, flyaway hat-head.

 How can you handle it?

·  Keep your hair healthy and moisturized.

·  Use a good conditioner every time you shampoo your hair.

·  Towel-dry moisture from wet hair first to limit blow-drying time.  

·  Apply heat styling protection to guard hair from hot air and styling tools.

 Pay attention to products.

·  Instead of gel, opt for style creams to keep hair pliable so it’s less prone to break.

·  Avoid holding sprays with a high alcohol content, which can dry out hair.

·  Eliminate flyaway strands by working in a small amount of texturizing product or  moisturizing oil after the hat comes off.

 Try these tools to tame the tresses.

· Choose a natural boar bristle hairbrush with a wooden handle to reduce static charges.

·  Limit brushing or combing. Try finger styling instead.
