ON THE AGENDA: Ames School Board Tackles Facility Problems and Board Goals Monday
Ames Community School District Board expected to meet 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in the multipurpose room at Ames High School, 1921 Ames High Drive.
The Board plans to review a facilities report on all school buildings at tonight's meeting as well as approve some bids for building repairs and adopt school board goals.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to be held in the multi-purpose room at , 1921 Ames High Drive.
Gerry Peters, director of facilities planning and management, will bring the same facilities report he presented in November of 2010. The report helped the previous board develop a plan to repair and replace elementary schools in the district, which included a failed $65 million bond referendum.

During school board elections in September, three members of the previous board were voted out, and voters also the previous board's proposed referendum to repair and replace elementary schools.

Tonight, the board will discuss whether and how to conduct a survey to determine why voters rejected the referendum.
The board will also discuss drafts of goals for the current year. The goals cover issues such as budget, academic growth and facilities.
