In 2010, online sales hit record numbers.

Not everyone shook off their turkey stupor, put on comfy shoes and hit the stores searching for the perfect Black Friday deal.

Some of you stayed on the couch through the weekend with plans to do your holiday shopping today. We know this because the boom in online shopping in the past decade has created Cyber Monday, touted as the biggest online shopping day of the year.

Nationally, online shoppers purchased $1.028 billion worth of goods on websites last year, a 16 percent jump from 2009, according to comScore, an internet traffic monitoring company.

Undoubtedly, many of us will be searching for online deals this year, as well. Last year, 48 percent of Cyber Monday shopping took place at work, according to Comscore.Β This year, 60 percent of businesses plan to block their employees from online shopping sites.
