The City of Ames Department is holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 28 at the Ames Water Pollution Control Facility, located at 56797 280th Street.

The facility uses various treatment methods to reduce organic material, solids and ammonia before releasing the what's left into the South Skunk River, said a release about the open house.
Ames services more than 14,500 utility customers and businesses including the , National Veterinary Services Laboratories, and .

People who stop out will be able to participate in guided facility tours, see environmental exhibits, equipment displays, and drink refreshments.
Information will also be provided about the community-wide sanitary sewer system study, as well as long-range plans for the Water Pollution Control Facility.
