In order to best serve Story County residents, there has been a push for a Test Iowa location in this county. The closest Test Iowa locations have been in Marshalltown (Marshall County) and Des Moines (Polk County). Several organizations have played a role in getting the clinic set up in Ames, including Mary Greeley, Story County, the City of Ames, Iowa State University, Story County Medical Center, McFarland Clinic, and Primary Health Care Clinic.
Clinic sites are partnerships between the State of Iowa and local health care providers to increase access to testing in their communities. Clinics operate and staff the test sites. The state provides testing supplies and processes the samples through the State Hygienic Lab.
