The Space for Ames Music Marathon Starts Noon Saturday
Fifty live acts will play on two stages for 15 hours at The Space for Ames.
Fifteen hours of live music will celebrate The Space for Ames, a music venue that opened on Hayward Avenue four years ago.
More than 50 live performers and bands have lined up to perform during the annual Space for Ames Marathon fundraiser, which begins at noon Saturday.
Money raised at the event helps the Space, a 650-square foot music venue, keep its doors open throughout the year, said Chris Lyng, one of the event's organizers.

All of the performers have played at least one show at the Space, and for many the Space stage is where they played their first show.
“It's a way to give back to the Space,” Lyng said.

Each set lasts 10 to 20 minutes, according to an article in the .
Last year's show ended at 1 a.m. This one lasts until 3 a.m. The constant music is achieved with two stages, one always in a state of set up or break down. None of the breaks between sets should run longer than four minutes, Lyng said.
Nate Logsdon of the Space told Ames247.com that bands range the gamut of music tastes.
“Is what’s on not your cup of tea? Just wait,” he told Ames247.com. “Every 20 minutes there’s something new and exciting.”
