2013 Iowa High School State Wrestling Results: Two Ankeny Wrestlers Set Eyes on Third

Results from day two of the individual state wrestling tournament.

Day one of the individual Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament is over, and while two Ankeny wrestlers have been eliminated from the tournament, two could still nab a third place finish in their respective Class 3A brackets.

Here are the full round two championship bracket results for Ankeny:

120 pounds: Austin Anderson, Ankeny, fell by 4-2 dec. to John Gioffredi, Indianola.

  • Anderson advanced in the consolation bracket and could still take third place in his weight class.

170 pounds: Sam Pickard, Ankeny, fell to Mitch Bowman, North Scott, by pin, 5:49.

  • Pickard moved on to the consolation bracket, where he fell to Joe Teague, Algona, by 9-5 dec.

182 pounds: John Ware, Ankeny, fell to Tyler Frideres, Pleasant Valley, in the consolation bracket by 6-4 dec.

220 pounds: Joel Lanning, Ankeny, fell to Gannon Gremmel, Dubuque-Hempstead, by 7-2 dec.

  • Lanning advanced to the consolation bracket, where he could still take third place.
