The gala will introduce the company’s talented dance corps, made up of 17 gifted, local dancers. Including excerpts from Alice in Wonderland, Don Quixote, and Stars and Stripes, the performance also intends to honor the dedication and service of our community’s Armed Forces personnel.
Performances will be November 9th, at 11AM and 2PM, and tickets are available starting September 23rd through RoyalBalletofIowa.com. Ticket cost is $15 (general admission) or $20 (preferred seating). Any active or retired member of the armed forces is invited to attend without charge. Veterans can reserve their free ticket online or by phone. General admission seats will be available at the door for $20.
Franklin Hall is located at 4801 Franklin Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50310.
About the Royal Ballet of Iowa
The Royal Ballet of Iowa was created to give local dancers a showcase for their exceptional dance abilities. While their skills are honed through the performance of full length ballets, scholarship funds are raised to encourage the post-secondary dance pursuits of company members. In addition to the many years of training required to perform at this level, dancers were chosen through auditions and have committed to over 7 hours a week of strenuous training and rehearsals throughout the year. All are still in school, so such a commitment comes from a devoted spirit and a deep love of their art.
About the Royal Academy of Dance
The company is affiliated with the Royal Academy of Dance, an influential and internationally renowned organization that provides classical ballet training standards, certification, and examinations to teachers and dancers in over 70 countries. The academy ensures an exacting, beautiful, and healthy standard of technique to over 250,000 young dancers each year.
About Scouting Workshops
Boy and Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to earn a badge at special workshops after each show. The Boy Scouts can earn a Heritage Badge after the 11AM show, and Girl Scouts can earn a Dancer Badge after the 2PM show.
