A Surprising Defense of Capitalism
People you don't expect are advocating for capitalism, hard work, and personal responsibility

Who said the following:
”Aid is just a stop-gap. Commerce [and] entrepreneurial capitalism takes more people out of poverty than aid.
“In dealing with poverty here and around the world, welfare and foreign aid are a Band-Aid. Free enterprise is a cure.
“Entrepreneurship is the most sure way of development.”

So who is this? Bono, lead singer for U2. Not exactly known for taking libertarian stances. I'm glad he's seeing, and especially glad he's talking about, the good that capitalism does.
But he's not the only interesting news of this week. A famous Hollywood actor (from Iowa, even), says things like
"I believe that opportunity looks a lot like hard work"
and
“And I’ve never had a job in my life that I was better than. I was always just lucky to have a job. And every job I had was a stepping stone to my next job, and I never quit my job until I had my next job. And so opportunities look a lot like work.”
He makes a lot of sense, and it's a message that kids today need to hear. These stories have gone viral, and that's a good thing. People are waking up to the principle and values that actually help people. These messages are resonating with them, and that's a good thing.
