• IGHSAU Volleyball Rankings (klem1410.com) — Ankeny volleyball fans can celebrate as both Ankeny Christian and Ankeny High, plus Ankeny Centennial, appear in the latest IGHSAU rankings across Classes 1A and 5A. The list shows how local teams stack up against top programs statewide, from Waukee Northwest and Iowa City West to Norwalk and Grundy Center. It's a quick snapshot of where Ankeny squads stand heading into the season.
• 3rd congressional district candidates spar over One Big Beautiful Bill (kjan.com) — Ankeny's own Congressman Zach Nunn is defending Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," arguing its tax cuts let Iowans keep more of their pay, while his opponent Sarah Trone Garriott says any benefit vanished under tariffs and war-related costs. The two candidates also clash over Medicaid cuts and rural health funding, with Nunn highlighting billions for clinics and cancer screening equipment. Their dueling messages came in separate State Fair soapbox speeches.
• Vilsack endorses Sand and his farm policy proposals (kcrg.com) — Ankeny hosted a campaign roundtable where Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand and former governor Tom Vilsack promoted a farm policy focused on diversifying family farms and boosting rural economies. They highlighted manure digesters, conservation funding, and a higher minimum wage, while contrasting Sand's ideas with Republican Zach Lahn's proposals. The discussion also touched on long-stalled funding for Iowa's Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation trust.
