• Over 12,000 in central Iowa without power amid Tuesday night storms (weareiowa.com) — Powerful Tuesday night thunderstorms knocked out electricity for hundreds of Ankeny customers, as part of more than 16,000 outages across the Des Moines metro. MidAmerican Energy reported 692 outages in Ankeny at the peak, with Des Moines and Windsor Heights also hit hard while crews worked to restore service.
   

• Rain soaks central Iowa Tuesday night (weareiowa.com) — Ankeny picked up 3.04 inches of rain from Tuesday night's storms, part of a soaking that pushed Des Moines to nearly six inches in two days and broke several rainfall records. The deluge has already made September 2026 one of Des Moines' wettest on record, underscoring how saturated central Iowa has become.
   

• Men's Track & Field 2026-27 (hawkeyesports.com) — A new men's college track and field roster features athletes from across Iowa and the country, including competitors from Ankeny High School in jumps and distance events. Local runners will line up alongside teammates from cities like Johnston, Polk City, and Cedar Rapids for the 2026–27 season.
