Here's where and when (desmoinesregister.com subscription) — A 16-acre project along I-35 will add 200 new townhome units in northeast Ankeny by early 2028, at N.E. Delaware Avenue and N.E. Ninth Street. Developer Hubbell Realty plans amenities like a pool, clubhouse, fitness center and dog park, citing Ankeny's fast growth and tight rental market as reasons this new housing is badly needed.
   

• Wired: Ankeny holding the line for Layne Hearne (who13.com) — Ankeny students and neighbors are rallying around high school junior Layne Hearne, who suffered a broken neck in a wrestling accident but remains a beloved part of the Hawks football team. Teammates visit regularly, the community has raised over $60,000 through "Hold The Line For Layne" fundraisers, and Hearne says staying involved with Ankeny football is crucial to his recovery and mental health.
