The Ankeny Area Historical Society will be holding its first monthly open house on April 7, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at their two museums located at 301 SW Third St.
At 2:30 p.m. there will be a special dedication of the parlor in memory of Barb Johnson White. Barb was a dedicated member of the society until her passing in October of 2012. It was through Barb's leadership that the historical society was able to move the house museum to its current location in 1995, giving the historical society a permanent home for it's artifacts.
Stop in and see our many displays. The Des Moines Ordnance Plant display tells the story of the building of the plant, its workers and the effect it had on central Iowa. The store display shows what a country store was like, along with photos of early stores in Uptown.
