Eyes of Lightning is a young adult novel for ages twelve and up. The story is set in contemporary Illinois with a fantastic twist. Fifteen-year-old Ivy and three neighbor boys discover the supernatural powers of the Native American Thunderbird. The four teens race against the clock as they try to save Ivy’s grandfather with their new abilities. “My main goal when writing this book was to make it funny, exciting, and enjoyable for teens and adults,” Horn says. “Another goal was to write a clean book so adults wouldn’t hesitate to share it with the teens in their lives.”
