The fifth-ranked Ankeny Hawks demolished the Ames Little Cyclones on Friday night in Ankeny.
The Hawks (2-0) pulled out to a 31-0 lead at halftime via four unanswered rushing touchdowns and a field goal. The Little Cyclones (1-1) managed a fourth quarter passing touchdown to avoid the shutout.
The final score was 45-7.

Both the fifth-ranked Ankeny Hawks and the Ames Little Cyclones hope for their second victory when they meet on Hawks turf tonight.
Last week, the Hawks hung on to win its home opener 31-20 over Waukee. And Ames trounced Des Moines North 54-7 in its first game of the season.
When Ames and Ankeny clashed on the field last year, Ankeny defeated Ames 20-7.
The game begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Ankeny Stadium, 1302 N. Ankeny Blvd.
