Ankeny Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

A tip by someone who saw the robbery suspect's photo on local television led to the arrest, Ankeny authorities said Monday afternoon.

Ankeny police arrested a man Sunday for the robbery of the branch in the city last week, according to a news release issued by the city Monday afternoon.

Robert Anthony Jerde, 43, address unknown, was charged with the robbery of US Bank at 305 S. Ankeny Blvd. in Ankeny. The robbery occurred at closing on Nov. 25, when Jerde entered the bank and demanded money from the bank teller, Ankeny authorities said.

Police received a tip following a television broadcast about the robbery featuring photographs of the suspect. Following the tip, Ankeny police located Jerde in Des Moines, where he was taken into custody without incident on Sunday, Ankeny officials said.
