Ankeny Boy Allegedly Steals Mom’s Debit Card to Buy Video Games: Ankeny Police Blotter

Sept. 24
Ankeny police responded to the 3200 block of Northwest Boulder Brook Place for a report of theft. Once on scene, police learned a mother reported her 11-year-old son took her debit card and purchased items online. She requested the officer speak with her son about his actions. The boy told police he took the card and purchased $71 worth of video games. No charges were filed.
Police received a report of verbal threats being made at a residence in the 200 block of Northwest Hickory Lane. A male caller reported a woman in the home was threatening him and that he overheard the suspect on the phone telling her mother she was “going to have to get rid of a body”. Upon arrival, police learned the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the caller because he called her names and also had been drinking. Both individuals refused to press charges.
Sept. 28
Police responded to 1510 N.W. Ash Dr. for a report of gunshots. The responding officer met with the caller who said he heard the shots somewhere between Prairie Ridge Middle School and Prairie Ridge Sports Complex. He said he believed the shots were being fired at geese. Police then met with the head of the grounds crew at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex, who informed the officer the shots were a special type of “blank” used to scare away geese and that it happens every day this time of year in city parks and golf courses.
