Ankeny Dad Among Those Killed in I-80 Crash

An Ankeny man was among two employees of a Des Mones towing company killed Tuesday evening, along with two over-the-road truck drivers, in an accident on Interstate Highway 80, reports the Des Moines Register.

The cause of the crash in Poweshiek County, about 50 miles east of Des Moines, remains unknown, authorities said Wednesday.

Hanifen Towing drivers Jesse J. Inman, 29, of Ankeny and Daniel Walsh, 60, of Des Moines died while trying to help an Illinois man whose semitrailer had broken down. Another truck crashed into the vehicles, killing its driver and the other three men, the newspaper story said.

Inman is survived by a wife and three young children, one 6 weeks old.
