Ankeny's Drew Carlson was among many players who clinched the win for the Hawks.

The Ankeny Hawks brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "go big or go home" Friday night when they walked away from the district's last all-Hawks homecoming with a 42-7 victory over Johnston.
Drew Carlson was the big scorer of the night, accounting for three of Ankeny's touchdowns. He put the Hawks on the board early, bringing the score to 7-0 in the first quarter.
By halftime, Ankeny had pulled ahead to 21-7. In the fourth quarter, the Hawks plowed ahead with Brent Jones launching a 62-yard touchdown strike to Ben David, sufficiently clinching the victory for the Hawks.
