Ankeny Hawkettes Move on to State Softball Semifinals

A landslide win over Cedar Rapids Prairie pushed the Ankeny Hawkettes softball team into the Class 5A Iowa high school softball state semifinals.
The Hawkettes won the quarterfinal matchup Tuesday night in an 8-1 victory, according to the Des Moines Register.Â
This is the team's third straight trip to the semifinals, the article. The Hawkettes are defending their state title from last year.
Also during the game, the Register reported that Ankeny's Kendyl Lindaman earned her 24th home run of the season, tying the state record.
The Hawkettes will meet Dowling on Thursday at 7 p.m. for a crack at the championship. The game will be played on Diamond 1 at the Harlan & Hazel Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.
