Ankeny Hawks Advance in Class 4A State Baseball Quarterfinals

The Ankeny High School boys baseball team is one step closer to clinching another championship for the school.

The Hawks defeated Davenport North 14-2 Wednesday in the Class 4A state baseball quarterfinals, according to scores reported by the Des Moines Register. The win bumped the Hawks to a 41-2 record and brought the team's winning streak to 26 games.

Brent Jones launched a walkoff two-run homer in the sixth to end the game by mercy rule, the Register article said, and starter Nick Belzer tossed five strong innings for the win.

The Hawks will take on West Des Moines Valley at 6 p.m. Friday. The game will be held at Principal Park.
