Ankeny Hawks, West Des Moines Dowling Meet in Class 4A Substate Finals

The Ankeny Hawks capped off their last season together Tuesday night.

The Hawks fell to Dowling Catholic in the Iowa State High School Boys Basketball substate finals, losing 70-58 to the Maroons. The game was postponed from earlier this week due to weather.

While the Hawks were able to narrow Dowling's lead to seven points in the final quarter, it wasn't quite enough to clinch them a spot in the Class 4A state tournament.

The Hawkettes advanced in the girls Class 5A bracket Tuesday, and will play Southeast Polk at 10 a.m. Friday morning at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
