Ankeny Named a Best Place to Live by CNN Money Magazine

Although you probably already know it, CNN Money Magazine has declared Ankeny one of the best places in the country to live.

The publication recently released its 2013 list highlighting America's best small towns. Ankeny was #37 on the list. 

Ankeny is one of two Iowa cities that made this year's list. Waukee is the other, which came in at #22.

Ankeny isn't new to this list. The community also made it in 2009 and 2011.

Here's a little glimpse of why Money Magazine chose Ankeny as a great place to live: 

Ankeny is one of the fastest-growing places in Iowa, thanks in part to its low cost of living and enviable 3.4% unemployment rate. In town, big employers include Monsanto and John Deere, while Des Moines jobs are just 10 miles away. Ankeny also offers affordable homes (the median price is below $200,000).

A municipal golf course, 40 parks, and 73 miles of paved trails keep residents entertained. Plus, a new outdoor market and community gathering spot is in the works.
