Ankeny Police Arrest Suspect in Recent Vehicle Burglaries

Ankeny police arrested 41-year-old Darrell Sholley after a witness allegedly saw him burglarizing a vehicle in the area of Northwest Campus Ridge Court.

Local police are trying to determine whether an Ankeny man arrested last week is connected to a recent string of car burglaries.

Ankeny police apprehended Darrell Sholley, 41, on Nov. 11 after a witness reported they saw Sholley trying to burglarize a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Northwest Campus Ridge Court.

Police were called to the area at approximately 1:26 a.m. Although Sholley left the area prior to the arrival of police, a city press release said, they were able to locate him running across an open lot directly north of , 1302 N. Ankeny Blvd.

Sholley was apprehended after a short foot chase, the release said. He was found to be in possession of multiple items reported stolen from earlier vehicle burglaries.

Sholley was taken to the Polk County Jail. He is being charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; two counts of third-degree burglary to a vehicle, a class D felony; and possession of burglary tools, an aggravated misdemeanor.
