UPDATE: Ankeny Police Locate Missing Woman in Ames; Thank Public for Help
The woman, who has diminished mental capacity, was believed to have left her residence overnight and walked to an intersection where she may have gotten a ride from someone.

UPDATE: 6 p.m.
Shortly after the media released information about missing Robbin McClain’, the Ankeny Police Department started to receive calls with information on her whereabouts, according to a news release issued at about 5 p.m.
Detectives learned McClain received rides from people from Ankeny to the Ames area. McClain eventually made her way to an Ames homeless shelter and was located by Ames police officers.

McClain was found to be in good health and arrangements are being made to bring her back to Ankeny. The Ankeny police department wants to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this case.

The Ankeny Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a woman with intellectual disabilities who was reported missing to officers at about 1 a.m. on Monday, according to a news release on the city's website.
Robbin McClain lives at 217 S.W. Carriage Drive in Ankeny, where she is under 24-hour supervision. McClain has a diminished mental capacity, but is high functioning the release said. Authorities believe McClain left the residence and walked to the intersection of South Ankeny Blvd. and SW 33rd St. where she may have received a ride from an unknown person.
McClain is 23 years old, and is described as 5' 2", weighs 200 pounds, and has blue eyes and short blond hair.
She is believed to be wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt with “Robbin” on the back and a blue windbreaker with white stripes down the sleeves. McClain may also be wearing sparkly pink gloves and white shoes with patches of blue, green, and red on them. She may be carrying a green colored recycled bag with “Menards” written on it.
Anyone who had contact with McClain or has information on her whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Polk County Dispatch Center at 515-286-3333.
