Ankeny Police Investigating a Burglary at DMACC Campus

Security video shows two unknown suspects targeting an ATM located in a campus building.

The Ankeny Police Department is searching for information surrounding an ATM burglary that took place on the Des Moines Area Community College Ankeny campus on Sept. 22.

According the a release issued by the city of Ankeny, security video from DMACC shows two suspects entering Building 5 through a public access door located along the north side of the building. Building 5 houses the student center, gym, book store, lounge, as well as other student-oriented offices.

Once inside the building, the suspects targeted an ATM machine located near the bookstore entrance. The suspects removed the ATM from the building and it later was found near the campus pond. The ATM had been broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash removed from the machine.

The burglary occurred in the early morning hours, the release said. At the time of the burglary, the building was locked and closed to the public.
