Ankeny Police Make Arrest in Police Station Shooting

Two months after shots were fired into the Ankeny police station, an Ankeny man is facing multiple charges in connection with the case.

On July 17, the Ankeny police filed charges against Quincy P. Martin, 20, for his alleged involvement in .

Martin is being charged with terrorism, a Class B felony, as well as fourth-degree criminal mischief and firing a gun within the city limits.

Martin was already in jail at the time the charges were filed. He was being held for a list of charges, including child endangerment, domestic abuse, harrassment and violation of a no-contact order.

Video from the Ankeny Police Department on the night of the incident showed multiple rounds of gunfire were shot by someone in a vehicle driving west on Southwest Ordnance Road. The vehicle slowed down long enough to discharge multiple rounds, said Police Chief Gary Mikulec on May 1.

According to a release sent by the city of Ankeny, Martin was listed as a possible suspect shortly after the incident due to his involvement in another investigation. The release said Martin also had access to a vehicle matching the description of one captured by surveillance cameras the night of the shooting.

During the course of the investigation detectives interviewed numerous people and located a handgun Martin had in his possession at the time of the shooting, the release said.

The handgun was sent to the Department of Criminal Investigation lab in Ankeny for comparison to shell casings found on the road in front of the police building and bullets found on the lobby floor of the building.

The DCI lab confirmed the shell casing found at the scene was fired from the handgun Martin had been in possession of at the time of the shooting.
