Ankeny Police Seeking Assistance in Identifying Kohl's Burglary Suspect

The suspect allegedly struck a store loss prevention officer with her vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Ankeny police are seeking your help in identifying a woman accused of allegedly shoplifting from the Ankeny Kohl's on Nov. 12.

Police are looking for a Caucasian female, 25-30 years old, 5-05, 215 lbs., with brown hair. According to a news release, the suspect was wearing a distinctive red and white horizontal striped long sleeve shirt. The suspect also had a black purse with glitter or rhinestone hearts on it.

The suspect was believed to be driving a 2000-2007 light blue Dodge Caravan.

Police were called to Kohl's just after 12:35 p.m. on Nov. 12 by a store loss prevention officer who reported he was struck by a vehicle driven by a female shoplifting suspect.

Police said the loss prevention officer reported the female suspect had been observed shoplifting while in the store and was pursued to the suspect’s light blue Dodge Caravan. The suspect was able to enter her unoccupied minivan and lock the doors before the loss prevention officer could detain her.

According to the release, the suspect started the Dodge Caravan and allegedly backed the van into the loss prevention officer who was recording the license plate number of the vehicle.

The loss prevention officer commanded her to stop, police said, when the vehicle struck him again in the leg and hip almost. The suspect vehicle then fled from the scene.

The loss prevention officer suffered minor leg and hip injury but did not require medical attention, police said.
