Ankeny's Shear Style Salon Moves to New Location

One of Ankeny's most established salons has moved locations.

Shear Style, which has been in business for 45 years, recently re-opened its doors at its new location at 1975 N. Ankeny Blvd., Suite 102. It previously was located at 109 N.W. Ninth St. in Ankeny.

The lease for the old location had expired and co-owners Shelley Starr and DeeDee Janssen thought it was time to move to updated space, Starr told the Des Moines Register.

Shear Style started in 1971 by DeeDee’s mother as Judy’s Hair Fashions and has changed names and locations over the years, the article said.
