Did Ankeny support a $15.9 million bond referendum needed to finance construction of the district's tenth elementary school?

Ankeny school district residents have voted to pass a $15.9 milion bond referendum to finance the construction of the district's tenth elementary school.
According to unofficial results from the Polk County Auditor's offices, 66 percent of votes cast were in favor of the referendum, or 2,801 votes. There were 1,453 votes against it, or 34 percent.

The referendum needed a 60 percent in-favor vote to pass.

Ankeny school district residents headed to the polls today to decide whether or not to support a $15.9 million bond referendum needed to finance the construction of the district's tenth elementary school.
Polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight. Patch will report the results as soon as the Polk County Auditor's office makes them available.
Residents were asked to vote yes or no to allow the Ankeny Board of Education to "issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $15,900,000 to provide funds to build and furnish new elementary #10 school building."
The bond requires a 60 percent in-favor vote to pass.
The proposed location for the new school is at the intersection of Northwest 36th and State streets.
