Ankeny School District Hires New Curriculum and Instruction Director

The new director's first day with the district is Monday.

The has hired Sharon Ingebrand as the district's new director of curriculum, assessment and professional development.

Ingebrand, who was serving as the executive director of professional development and consultative services for Waukee Community School District, will join the district Monday. She is filling a new combined position created following the and the , who is now principal of Ankeny Centennial High School.

"I look forward to joining a team of outstanding administrators, teachers, and staff in Ankeny,” Ingebrand said in a district press release. “The district's commitment to moving all students forward in their learning is one of the many reasons I am excited to be a part of Ankeny Community Schools."

Ingebrand started her career in 1989 as a special education teacher with Atlantic Community School District.

Since then, she has served as a special education, early childhood, and multi-age teacher for Des Moines Public Schools. She also was a director for The Early Years Learning Center in Smithville, Mo., and served as the director of the Professional Development Center for Iowa Educators.

During her time in Waukee, Ingebrand served as a kindergarten through fifth-grade math strategist, assistant principal of Waukee Middle School, instructional strategist and executive director of professional development and consultative services.

Ingebrand is originally from Shelby. She has a degree in elementary education from Iowa State University, a master's in early childhood education from Drake University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from the University of Northern Iowa.

Jill Urich, associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction, said Ingebrand will bring a wide scope of experience to the district administrative team.

"She is an outstanding leader whose diverse administrative and educational background is tightly aligned to our important work in Ankeny," Urich said. "She will undoubtedly help us continue to move forward.”
