Ankeny School District Jazzorama Clinics and Concert to be Held Saturday

The clinic will conclude with a concert at 7 p.m., which is open to the public.

From an Ankeny school district news release:

The Jazz Bands from Parkview Middle School, Prairie Ridge Middle School, Northview Middle School, and Ankeny High School will participate in the second annual Ankeny Schools’ Jazzorama on Saturday, January 26.   A big day is planned in which jazz band students in the district will work with outstanding clinicians/musicians and present a concert in the evening.

The clinicians for this year include: Percussionist, John Kizilarmut, Trombonist, John Benoit, Ankeny Alum and Saxophonist, David Bohl, and Ankeny Alum and Trumpeter, Andy Poppen.  In addition, we are pleased to announce the group Scrap Metal will entertain the audience during changeover time between bands during the concert.  Scrap Metal is a jazz/rock brass band made up of musicians from the 34th Army National Guard Band.  This is going to be a fun event for our students and the audience.

The concert starts at 7:00 pm in the Ankeny High School Auditorium.  Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for students, Senior Citizens, and Veterans.  Spread the word and bring your friends and relatives!
