Ankeny Softball Player One Home Run Away From State Record

Catch the Hawkettes in action this Saturday during the varsity regional tournament.

One swing of the bat is all it could take for Ankeny's Kendyl Lindaman to earn a state record.

Lindaman, a softball player for the Hawkettes, hit her 23rd home run on Monday night, according to the Des Moines Register. This is one shy of the state's all-time single-season record, the article said.

Lindaman helped lead the Hawkettes to a 13-3 win over Waukee.

The Hawkettes play again Saturday. They'll take on Ames in the varsity regional tournament, which starts at 7 p.m. at the Ankeny High School softball fields.
