The Ankeny Hawks swim team must replace six outgoing seniors next year.

Although the Hawks will remain a combined team with Ankeny Centennial High School, Justin Crouch, head coach of the boys swim team, told the Des Moines Register he will have to replace seniors Luke Gallagher, Bryce Hagner, Hunter Haws, Josh Nabity, Casey Shumaker and Allan Todd when they graduate.

Chayton Tonemah, a junior guard on the Ankeny Christian Academy boys basketball team, was named Ankeny Prep of the Week this week by the Des Moines Register. Tonemah led the Eagles in last week's Class 1A boys state basketball quarterfinals, scoring 14 points for his team.

Last month, Tanner Buenting signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, the Des Moines Register reports. The shortstop picked the Tritons over DMACC (Boone).
“It was a really tough decision,” Buenting told the newspaper. “It was between those two schools, and I just weighed out my pros and cons and came up with Iowa Central.”

Ankeny girls basketball player Brittany Hedrick has been named to the Class 5-A all-state third team by The Des Moines Sunday Register.
Hedrick, a 5-foot-7 senior guard, led her team to a 20-5 record this season.

Ankeny senior C.J. Culligan has verbally committed to play soccer at Simpson College, according to the Des Moines Register.
Culligan, the son of Deb Culligan and Rick Douglas, will be coached by former Ankeny head coach Rick Isaacson, the newspaper said. Isaacson guided the Storm to a 13-8-1 record last fall in his second season at the school.
