Ankeny Summer Cleanup Dates Announced

The City of Ankeny will hold Summer Cleanup Days on Saturday, June 27, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 28, from noon – 4 p.m.

The City of Ankeny will hold Summer Cleanup Days on Saturday, June 27, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 28, from noon – 4 p.m. allowing Ankeny residents to dispose of large unwanted items free of charge. New location for 2020! This event will be held at Ankeny Sanitation headquarters, located at 7002 SE Delaware Avenue.

  • Only Ankeny residents residing within the corporate limits may participate in this program. Proof of residency is required.
  • Trucks larger than a pickup are prohibited from participating in the disposal of cleanup debris.
  • Items not accepted at the event include: Antifreeze, oil, asphalt, paint, tree stumps, yard debris, pesticides, freezers, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, ovens/stoves, clothes dryers and washers, furnaces, microwave ovens, batteries, water heaters, televisions, computer monitors, dishwashers, propane tanks, and helium tanks.

Summer Cleanup Days replaces Spring Cleanup Days typically held every spring. Spring Cleanup Days was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recycle Tires at Ankeny Cleanup Days

Residents may bring tires, off the rim (limit 5 per household) and place them in a separate dumpster at the event provided by Metro Waste Authority. These will not be landfilled like the rest of the debris, they will be recycled. Farm or tractor tires, solid tires and bicycle tires will not be accepted.

Please note that the city Tree and Branch Recycling event also takes place at the same time; however, that event is held at the City Maintenance Facility, 211 SE Lorenz Drive.
