Ankeny Parents' Association Endorses School Board Incumbents
APA gives the thumbs-up to Martin, Murphy, Johnson and Petersen.

The Ankeny Parents’ Association recently announced its endorsements for incumbents Aaron Johnson, Andrew Martin, Trent Murphy, and Leslie Petersen for re-election to the Ankeny school board.
The decision was based on their individual commitments to academic excellence, lower property taxes and providing more opportunities for kids with a two-high school system, according to a press release.
The assocation's Facebook page has 106 members.

The election will be held on Sept. 13 for four seats. All of the incumbents are seeking re-election, and four challengers are also onthe ballot.
Endorsements of the incumbents, announced last week, were based on the following:

- A commitment to lower the school district tax rate by 25 percent.
- A proven commitment to a two-high school system including opening Ankeny Centennial High School in fall 2013, completing the second phase of Southview Middle School and finishing the expansion of East Elementary and renovation of Northview Middle School, all seen as steps toward providing more opportunities and academic excellence for students.
- Proven school leadership delivering superior academic results. Ankeny Schools are at an all-time high in regard to academic achievement under their leadership. Recent accreditation by the Iowa Department of Education and AdvanceED placed Ankeny Schools among the top 2 percent of school districts in the state, curriculum improvements and updates emphasize 21st century skills and Iowa Test of Basic Skills increased scores have been realized for three straight years under their leadership.
- Impeccable integrity. They are clear about their intentions and have followed through with their promises.
