Are you a radical?

Lots of talk lately about who is "radical" or "extreme" in their political views. Are you a "radical"?

There have been lots of adjectives tossed about these blogs about who is "radical" or "extreme" in their political beliefs.  Usually those making the claims do not explain why a particular viewpoint is so "radical" or "extreme", they just throw it out and hope that it can stick.  So what actually is a "radical" idea?  Let's review a few:

Is it radical to say that $16.6 trillion in federal debt is too much and we need to cut back spending?  No, polls say a majority of Americans agree with that.

Is it extreme to say that the government shouldn't be collecting the phone records of journalists?  No, polls say a majority of Americans agree with that.

Are you a radical to say that the government shouldn't be recording and tracking your every move by getting your phone records, emails, text messages, and more?  That it's an invasion of your privacy to do so?  No, polls say a majority of Americans agree with that.

Is it radical to say that the government is a serious threat to our personal liberty and freedom?  Nope, Americans agree with that one too.

Are you an extremist if you say that Obamacare is causing costs to increase and we'd be better off without it?  Nope, Americans agree with that one as well.

If you say that people should be responsible for the consequences of their actions, are you an extremist?  Nope, Americans support that concept, too.

Is it radical to say that abortion should actually be rare?  No, a majority of Americans believe there should be restrictions on abortions.

I could go on and on with examples like this.

Is it radical to say that you can spend your way out of bankruptcy?  Are you an extremist if you want the government to have more power and control?.  If you trust that government can solve our problems when they've utterly failed to over and over and over in the past, are you a radical?  I think you are.

Forty percent of the country identifies themselves as conservatives
, another 35% as moderate.  A shrinking minority of the country, 21%, identifies themselves as liberal.  Yet these liberals work to make themselves and their views appear to be in the majority.  It's simply not true, there are twice as many conservatives as liberals.  We surround them.

Most everything this government is doing with their actions noted above, as well as their supporters who defend these actions, is to get you to be quiet.  Don't speak out.  Sit down and know your place.  Trust us, they say, they can figure things out.  Sorry, but no thanks.  It's time to stop the real radicals, before it's too late.
