Be Prepared: School Board Election is Tuesday
Find out whose names are on the ballot, how to register to vote and where you will go to vote.
Arguably one of the most anticipated elections of 2011 for Ankeny residents is just around the corner.
The election for Ankeny school board will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13. .
The candidates appearing on the ballot include incumbents Trent Murphy, Aaron Johnson, Leslie Petersen and Andrew Martin, as well as challengers Dustin Graber, Brad Huss, Stephanie Jorgensen and Mike Rooney.

Residents are allowed to vote for four of the eight candidates appearing on the ballot. They also will vote for one individual seeking a position on the Board of Directors. Ben Norman is the only name appearing on the ballot for the position.
Ankeny residents must be registered to vote in Polk County if they plan to vote in this election.

To register at the polls Tuesday, voters will need to provide either photo identification with their current address or one of the following documents: a government issued check or document, a residential lease, property tax statement, utility bill, bank statement or a paycheck.
Voters are encouraged to register prior to Tuesday to prevent any unnecessary delay at the polling place. The election office, located at 120 Second Ave. in Des Moines, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters with a disability requiring assistance should contact the election office at (515) 286-3247.
Voters should report to the following precincts on Tuesday night:
- Ankeny-1: , 1705 Trilein Drive.
- Ankeny-2: , 701 E. First St.
- Ankeny-3: , 510 E. First St.
- Ankeny-4: , 417 S.E. Grant St.
- Ankeny-5: , 914 N.W. Ash Drive.
- Ankeny-6: (west entrance), 2842 S.W. Third St.
- Ankeny-7: Lakeside Center, 400 N.W. Lakeshore Drive.
- Ankeny-8: , 502 S.E. Delaware Ave.
- Ankeny-9: , 2050 Four Seasons Drive.
- Ankeny-10: , 118 N.W. Linden St.
- Ankeny-11: , 517 S.W. Des Moines. St.
- Ankeny-12: , 2506 S.W. Third St.
- Crocker-1: (includes part of Polk City-1 in the Ankeny School District), 210 W. First St.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
