Benefit Planned for Teen Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis
The fundraiser is being held by the Ankeny Girls Softball Association on June 24.

The Ankeny Girls Softball Association is holding a fundraiser next week for an alumna who recently was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
The fundraiser will benefit 17-year-old Jordan Owens, who was chosen as the recipient of the Forever A Hawkette community service project, organized by Ankeny High School softball players.
The benefit will be a silent auction, held on June 24 at the Ankeny High School baseball and softball complex from 4:15-9 p.m., according to the AGSA Facebook page. All proceeds will go to Owens and her family.
In March 2013, Owens was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a disease that has no cure. Continued treatment will be needed to limit lung, pancreas and liver damage and to prolong her life.
Because of her diagnosis, frequent trips to the doctor and hospitals will be necessary in order to obtain her treatment.Â
