1) The approval of an interfund borrowing resolution

The Board of Education could approve a resolution at Monday’s meeting to take money from its building and facilities fund to compensate for the lack of state funding between June 15-Sept. 15.

“During that time, school districts (in Iowa) don’t receive any payments from the state,” Peterson said. “Because we have so many building projects we have money set aside for, this will allow us to borrow money (from within the district) until state payments start coming in.”

Peterson called it a routine procedure that all school districts must go through during the summer months, although districts generally have to borrow the funds from an outside source.

“This is a much better solution because it keeps the money in-house and doesn’t cost us anything,” he said.

2) Construction updates on new facilities within the district

DLR Group will give its monthly update on construction at Southview Middle School, Ankeny High School and Ankeny Centennial High School.

Struxture Architects also will give its monthly update on construction of Prairie Trail Elementary School, as well as the addition to East Elementary School.

3) Other items on the agenda include:

  • Review of the district’s legislative priorities for the next session.
  • A informational presentation by Director of Technology Brad Johnson regarding district technology for the upcoming school year, which will address department goals and projects. Peterson said discussion may be held for this at another meeting.
  • Board member reports.
  • Superintendent report. Superintendent of Schools Matthew Wendt will give his own progress report on district facility construction, as well as let those in attendance know of any back-to-school activities or special events in the coming weeks.
