Did you or a loved one have a slip and fall this past weekend?

Treating and preventing slip and falls on the ice are important to think about this time of year, Not only for you, but for your loved ones as well!

The weather this time of year can really take a toll on one’s health, both mentally and physically with the bitter cold temperatures keeping you inside for longer periods of time. When you do try to venture out, there is always that risk of falling on slick spots, especially with weather like this past weekend’s rain and ice.

There are many common injuries that result from a slip and or fall on the ice.  Any joint in the body can be affected by a nasty fall on the ice which often results in the interruption of one’s normal activities of daily living.  What seem to be simple activities like sleeping or walking can be affected from a split-second fall on the ice.  You may not even feel the impact of the fall immediately, with the symptoms of a back strain or whiplash-type injuries appearing a day or two after the fall. In fact, you don’t even have to fall down to the ground to be injured on the ice.  Sometimes, a slip on the ice can trigger your body to catch itself, straining different muscles, but at the same time, not allowing you to actually fall to the ground.  The spine and supporting muscles can become sore from such a trauma as well. Getting into the chiropractor as soon as possible to calm the muscles down, relieve pain, and realign the spine to help prevent long term problems is one of the best things you can do following an incident on the ice.

At Back To Wellness Chiropractic, Dr. Jessica and Dr. Edward Lozinski focus on realigning the spine while also addressing muscle soreness and imbalances for optimal pain relief and prevention of future injuries. Back To Wellness Chiropractic treats all members of the family, from infants to grandparents.  Their goal is to get you out of the pain and restore your activities of daily living so you can go back participating in that sport you love to play, getting you back to work, and overall back to enjoying life!
