Do you trust the government to solve our economic problems?

Many people think that the government is the only institution which can solve our economic problems. Do you believe that?

So many people think that the government is the only institution which can solve our economic problems.  They say that the government is the only thing which has enough resources to fix the problems.  Do you believe that?  How well is the government doing right now with improving the economy?

Private sector job growth is still essentially flat, and it shows a serious problem in employment that isn't improving any time soon.  The real jobless rate is over 10% in most states.  Total debt to GDP is 105%Foreign holding of US debt is now over $13 trillion, which means we are indebted both economically and politically to other nations.  We've also printed money from thin air to the tune of hundreds of billions, if not trillions, and the Fed is in continuous mode of money printing.  This devalues our dollar, which makes consumer prices higher.  With the value of the US dollar declining, it strengthens the currencies of our enemies.  These are many of the same enemies which own our debt, which is how we get into the political debt.

A record 1 of every 5 households was on food stamps.  Entitlement spending is 2/3rds of our entire federal budget, and it's growing.  But in that other third there is still a bunch of wasted spending.  The IRS wasted $11 billion on improper refunds last year.  We've wasted billions on subsidies to "green" companies to force products into a market which doesn't want them, and the companies then go out of business.  People making over $100,000 a year received unemployment benefits in 2011.  We're actually paying people to recruit Americans to get on food stamps.

The government is also in charge of the factors they use to show how well the government is doing on the economy.  For example, the government is going to change the formula for how GDP is calculated in order to make the economy look like it is improving.  They don't include the most basic of consumable goods as part of the inflation calculation, food and fuel.  They've changed the unemployment rate calculation to make it look lower.  They simply stop reporting on economic data that shows the problems with what they are doing.

And we still have to deal with the coming train wreck of Obamacare taxes.

Only 3 in 10 trust government.  With so many examples like these, we can clearly see why, and it's clear that government is not the solution to our problems.  Government caused these problems, and creating more government to solve the problem of too much government is pure insanity.  It's time to tell government to get out of the way of the American people, because we know how to make things better.
