Centennial Cheerleaders Bring Home Awards from Clark University Camp
The honors were earned by the high school squad during this summer's Universal Cheerleading Association camp.

The Ankeny Centennial cheerleading program took home several awards and honors during this summer’s Universal Cheerleading Association’s camp at Clark University in Dubuque, Iowa.
“The most exciting award presented to the team was the Tradition plaque,” said Alyssa Howlett, ACHS Cheerleading Coach.
This award was given to the team best showing school pride in their school by strongly incorporating their colors, mascot, and name into all aspects of camp.
“An incredible award to receive being a new school this year,” said Howlett.
The camp hosted 14 squads with over 200 participants from schools across Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois. More than 70 cheerleaders from ACHS’s freshman through varsity squads participated in the four day camp in July.
The Varsity Squad earned:
- First-place for Overall Varsity Camp Champion
- Second-place for Extreme Routine
- Superior Performer Award
- Best Flash-Back Pep Rally Costume
- Pin-it-Forward Leadership Award
- The Spirit Stick
- The Coveted Spirit Banana
- Best Varsity Jumper, junior Hannah Mayer
- Second-place for Overall Junior Varsity Camp Champion
- First-place Cheer
- Second-place for Extreme Routine
- Pin-it-Forward Leadership Award
- The Spirit Stick
- Most Improved squad
- The Spirit Stick
“These talented young ladies stood out with their skills and performance,” said Howlett.
All four girls are eligible to participate in the London and Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.
