The police headquarters, located at 411 S.W. Ordnance Road, was completed in the spring of 2009. Designed by Wilson Estes Police Architects, the $17.5 million, 75,000-square-foot building includes a 14-cell holding facility, underground parking for vehicles and the only indoor tactical firing range in the state, the news release said.

The architectural design of the building features natural stonework, various wood finishes and a purposeful use of natural lighting. Every room has either a window or secondary light from another window. Beyond logistics, the design is intended to meet today’s staffing and technology needs with room to accommodate the city’s 20-year population projections, the release said.
