Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival Full Results: Ankeny's Newell, Depenning Compete in Annual Ride

The 30th Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival — something like the Boston Marathon for Midwest bicyclists — took place over the weekend in Wisconsin.
The race started with 27 riders in 1983. Â This year, 1,850 riders rode the 40 miles to finish at Telemark Resort. Â Another 900 riders were to start concurrently in downtown Cable in the 16-mile Short & Fat and also finish at Telemark.
John Newell of Ankeny finished 8th in the 50-54 men's age group.

Brian Depenning, also of Ankeny, finished 102nd in the 55-59 men's age group.
