Trees must be free of all ornaments, decorations, tree stands and plastic hauling bags. The tree should be secured in a way that keeps it from blowing into the street. No other trees or branches will be collected during this time. Residents living in private developments or on private streets must place their trees on the City’s right of way, as crews will not be driving onto private streets or drives to pick up trees.
The Ankeny Fire Department reminds residents that dried out Christmas trees are very flammable. The longer the tree remains in the home, the greater the fire risk becomes. Residents are encouraged to remove their trees from their home in a timely manner.
