The City of Ankeny announced today the aquatic centers will not be opening this weekend. The City’s number one priority is the health and safety of the 160,000 pool patrons that visit each year and our 175-plus aquatic center staff. The City is working with the Iowa Department of Public Health, CDC, American Red Cross, City Council and the Governor's office to determine a safe way to offer swim lessons this summer.

As further legal authority from the Governor and related public health guidance becomes available, the City will make a decision regarding the possibility of more fully operating the aquatic centers.

Effective today, the City will refund all aquatic center season pass holders. The Parks & Recreation Department will contact season pass holders directly to arrange refunds.
