City Of Ankeny Requests Homemade Masks For Essential Public Workers

The Ankeny Fire Department is also accepting N95 masks, surgical masks, disposable coveralls and waterless hand cleaner.

The City of Ankeny essential city workers need your help to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is recommending all individuals wear face coverings in public settings where social distancing is hard to maintain. The City is calling on the community to create and donate homemade masks for essential city employees, including public works, utilities, park maintenance and office staff. Fire/EMS and police staff will continue to wear appropriate PPE when coming in contact with patients; they will utilize the homemade masks when at the station, in between calls. These individuals are keeping our city running for us, please help to keep them safe.

The CDC has provided guidelines to sew homemade masks, those can be found here. If you have a different pattern, that is fine too.

Please drop donations off at the Ankeny Fire Department Headquarters located at 120 NW Ash Drive. There will be a bin for donations in the vestibule.
